SUMMARY:MACSC July Meeting: Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plan
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Robert C. Albrecht\, Executive EHS Manager for Signature Safety\, LLC for the Midatlantic region. \nInfection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plan\, is a set of guidelines and practices that help reduce the risk of infection transmission during construction or renovation projects in healthcare settings . The goal of an ICRA plan is to protect the health of patients\, visitors\, and staff by identifying and controlling the effects of construction or renovation activities on air and water quality. A newer approach is called a Pre-Construction Infection Control Assessment (PICRA) and ICRA 2.0\, both are very similar with some nuances that will briefly be discussed in the body of content. \nThe presentation will discuss the elements of a traditional ICRA plan that involves the regulatory requirements and the following steps: \n\nIdentify risk groups: Determine which patient groups are at risk based on construction activities\nDetermine precautions: Decide on the appropriate class of precautions to take\nEstablish incident reporting: Create a process for reporting any incidents\nAnalyze potential contaminants: Consider every possible source of dust or construction contaminant that could spread through the facility\nImplement controls: Design and put in place measures to reduce health risks\n\nPresenters Bio: Robert Albrecht is a seasoned Occupational Safety and Health professional with over 34 years of experience that includes industrial hygiene\, large civil construction projects\, CSHO for a State OSHA program and over 10 years working in healthcare systems. He is the Executive EHS Manager for Signature Safety\, LLC for the Midatlantic region. SUMMARY:MACSC Monthly Meeting: "Maintaining Structural Safety"
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Jay Thomas\, Vice President\, Structural Technologies \nWhat All Construction Personnel Should Know to Maintain Structural Safety and Avoid Construction Defects on Job Sites. \nDuring new construction\, repairs or modifications to concrete structures\, it is important that contractors focus on structural safety issues. Given the speed at which projects are being completed today\, a basic understanding of the fundamental concepts of how reinforced concrete is designed is critical for contractors to complete projects successfully. \nOne area that is equally important but unfortunately not always considered in site specific safety plans is maintaining the Structural Safety and Capacity of the concrete buildings that we construct or modify. These concepts and procedures are intended to avoid structural collapse\, damage\, load carrying deficiencies\, injuries or costly construction defects. \nPULLMAN is pleased to host this STRUCTURAL TECHNOLOGIES seminar geared towards educating contractors. The presentation is not for the purpose of making structural decisions\, but more to recognize issues\, know when to bring them to the engineer’s attention. As an added benefit\, attendees will also learn valuable skills to recognize and avoid costly delays created by typical construction repairs. \nRegister here

SUMMARY:The Build Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE\nSchuylkill Yards / Brandywine and the Development of Life Sciences in University City.\nJoin us for the most exciting construction conference in recent memory. \nPhiladelphia in the wake of a global health crisis\, has transformed itself into a national hub for the development of life sciences over the course of the last few years. This can be attributed to the extraordinary strides in research courtesy of the city’s plethora of academic and medical institutions. Thanks to this research\, the private sector has responded by developing several million square feet of space for labs\, offices\, and even manufacturing. The epicenter of this development takes place in University City where projects are proceeding on properties largely held by Drexel University\, the University of Pennsylvania. Working with private developers\, these institutions in conjunction with Schuylkill Yards\, UCity Square\, and Pennovision\, have created a new eco-system of innovation around their campuses. Craig Carnaroli and Anne Papageorge of UPenn\, President Fry and Alan Greenberger of Drexel\, will describe how this came to be and what to expect as more development is realized. \nComplimentary Breakfast will be served. \nRSVP: LRG1075@comcast.net \nHosted by The Philadelphia Building Trades Council\, Palm Built Rite & The Signatory Contractors Association
