SUMMARY:Electrical Utilities Safety: Understanding the Cause of Electrical Fatalities
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nElectrical Utilities Safety: Understanding the Cause of Electrical Fatalities\nThursday\, September 4 at 11am PT / 2pm ET \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact with or exposure to electricity continues to be one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities. Between 2011 and 2023\, there was an average of 150 workplace electrical fatalities every year. Over 48% of these electrical fatalities are caused by overhead power line contact. \nElectrical power installers and repairers\, an occupation that makes up many of the line workers in the utility industry\, had the highest rate of electrical fatalities during this period. This webinar will discuss the commonalities of workplace electrical incidents along with what steps workers and employers may take to prevent these fatalities with an emphasis placed on utility workers. \nFEATURED SPEAKERS \nJennifer LeFevre\,\nExecutive Director\,\nElectrical Safety Foundation International\nJennifer LeFevre is the executive director of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI)\, guiding the Foundation’s mission to reduce electrical deaths\, injuries\, and fires through public education and outreach. Prior to her appointment at ESFI\, Ms. LeFevre served as vice president at the Concrete Advancement Foundation (CAF). Ms. LeFevre brings a wealth of experience in the concrete industry\, having spent a cumulative 27 years of her career at CAF and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Ms. LeFevre grew up in upstate New York and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo. \nDaniel Majano\,\nProgram Director\,\nElectrical Safety Foundation International\nDaniel Majano is the Program Director at the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI). He develops and manages programs to help reduce the number of electrically related fatalities in the workplace\, home\, and community. He has led ESFI’s effort to compile workplace and residential electrical safety data to guide ESFI’s awareness materials. He is a graduate of George Mason University and was the 2024 recipient of the IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Committee Young Professional Achievement Award. \nRegister Now \nSponsored by: Honeywell Industrial Safety and Enespro\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:How AI Can Make Workplace Incident Management & Hazard Assessment Smarter (and Safer!)
DESCRIPTION:Date: Thursday September 18\, 2025 at 2:00pm ET – 1:00pm CT – 11:00am PT \nData from occupational health and safety research organizations like the National Safety Council (NSC) and the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) show that employers continue to make steady progress toward reducing minor workplace injury types. Unfortunately\, serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) have remained essentially unchanged or have even risen in recent years. \nAs a result\, EHS leaders are beginning to rethink how they track injury and illness metrics—moving away from a reliance on traditional lagging indicators (TRIR\, DART rates\, etc.) and looking to leading indicators like potential for serious injury or fatality (PSIF) to help identify risks earlier and more accurately. \nEven with detailed leading indicators like PSIF in our toolkit\, we still need to translate that data into actions. That’s where Job Safety Analysis (JSA) comes in. JSA provides a systematic method to assess and control hazards before work begins. By streamlining and standardizing the risk assessment and controls prescribed in our JSAs\, employers take a significant step toward protecting workers. \nIn this session\, we’ll explore how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can unlock your incident and near-miss data to reveal trends\, root causes\, and risks to help safety teams pinpoint\, track\, and prevent SIFs. We’ll also show you how AI tools can enhance your JSAs by uncovering hidden risks\, standardizing hazard identification\, and suggesting better controls—giving you a smarter\, more proactive way to prevent SIFs before they happen. \nWhether you’re a safety leader\, EHS manager\, or just curious about AI\, this session will give you real-world use cases for how AI is revolutionizing EHS to help build a safer workplace for all. \nTopics covered include: \n\nSerious occupational injury & fatality trends\nShifting from lagging (TRIR\, DART\, etc.) to leading incident metrics (PSIF)\nJob safety analysis (JSA) best practices\, and how leading incident metrics (i.e.\, PSIF) contribute to improved hazard identification and control effectiveness\nHow AI is being applied to enhance both PSIF and JSA for more effective hazard control\nAudience Q&A\n\nRegister here for this free webinar!\nDATE: Thursday September 18\, 2025\nTIME: 2:00PM ET – 1:00PM CT – 11:00AM PT \n
