SUMMARY:Electrical Utilities Safety: Understanding the Cause of Electrical Fatalities
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\nElectrical Utilities Safety: Understanding the Cause of Electrical Fatalities\nThursday\, September 4 at 11am PT / 2pm ET \n\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nContact with or exposure to electricity continues to be one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities. Between 2011 and 2023\, there was an average of 150 workplace electrical fatalities every year. Over 48% of these electrical fatalities are caused by overhead power line contact. \nElectrical power installers and repairers\, an occupation that makes up many of the line workers in the utility industry\, had the highest rate of electrical fatalities during this period. This webinar will discuss the commonalities of workplace electrical incidents along with what steps workers and employers may take to prevent these fatalities with an emphasis placed on utility workers. \nFEATURED SPEAKERS \nJennifer LeFevre\,\nExecutive Director\,\nElectrical Safety Foundation International\nJennifer LeFevre is the executive director of the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI)\, guiding the Foundation’s mission to reduce electrical deaths\, injuries\, and fires through public education and outreach. Prior to her appointment at ESFI\, Ms. LeFevre served as vice president at the Concrete Advancement Foundation (CAF). Ms. LeFevre brings a wealth of experience in the concrete industry\, having spent a cumulative 27 years of her career at CAF and the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association. Ms. LeFevre grew up in upstate New York and is a graduate of the State University of New York at Geneseo. \nDaniel Majano\,\nProgram Director\,\nElectrical Safety Foundation International\nDaniel Majano is the Program Director at the Electrical Safety Foundation International (ESFI). He develops and manages programs to help reduce the number of electrically related fatalities in the workplace\, home\, and community. He has led ESFI’s effort to compile workplace and residential electrical safety data to guide ESFI’s awareness materials. He is a graduate of George Mason University and was the 2024 recipient of the IEEE IAS Electrical Safety Committee Young Professional Achievement Award. \nRegister Now \nSponsored by: Honeywell Industrial Safety and Enespro\n\n\n\n
