SUMMARY:PA One Call - Coordinate
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to use the Coordinate PA application to increase project safety & collaboration – No cost – PDH 1 \nWith this one-hour WebEx webinar you will learn how to use Pennsylvania 811’s Coordinate PA application. Coordinate PA is the next generation of utility coordination. Coordinate PA is a web service application developed by Pennsylvania 811 to support Public Works and utility project planning and utility coordination within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Instead of meeting to discuss plans\, or copy maps\, or create a spreadsheet of projects\, Utility companies\, public works directors and others describe their projects on a map. Coordinate PA then shows the projects and the project timeframes for users and automatically identifies opportunities for collaboration between projects. The user can see project overlap within a geographic area (for example\, Main Street from First Avenue and Seventh Avenue) and can query for overlap within a specific time frame. Coordinate PA integrates with Pennsylvania 811’s Web Ticket Entry process to create Design and Excavation notifications to increase project safety and reduce project costs as required by Pennsylvania’s Underground Utility Line Protection Law. This course is equal to 1 PDH for Professional Engineering Training. If you would like a certificate of participation\, please wait 5 days after the event and then login to Pennsylvania 811’s website\, select My Account and then My Participation to print your certificate. \nREGISTER HERE

SUMMARY:Staying Safe When Digging: Excavation & Trenching Basics
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, August 29 and Wednesday\, August 30 at 2:00pm Eastern (1 hour +) Eastern – ZOOM\nCPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training \nDirt is heavy. Really heavy. One cubic yard of dirt is the weight of a mid-sized car. For this reason\, excavating the earth’s surface for any reason can be dangerous\, especially when that excavation takes the form of a trench – a cavity deeper than its width and narrower than its length. If an excavation cave-in occurs (even a partial one)\, workers can be crushed in seconds\, even if their head and arms remain above the dirt. Join CPWR – The Center for Construction Research & Training\, the Associated General Contractors of America\, OSHA Region III\, and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health to learn more about staying safe during excavation activities. Dr. Douglas Trout will review the basics of excavation and trenching safety and our contractor safety specialists from Ed Bell Construction Company and BTConstruction will follow up by sharing their practical experience from the field along with information on activities and initiatives they are engaged in\, including\, for example\, the Trenching Excavation Safety Task force (TEST) to increase awareness and prevention of excavation injuries and fatalities. \nNOTE: A Spanish audio option will be provided through the use of a simultaneous translation service. \nNOTA: Se proporcionará una opción de audio en español a través del uso de un servicio de traducción simultánea. \nClick here to register and submit questions in advance.

SUMMARY:Ergonomics: Good for Employees\, Good for Business
DESCRIPTION:What’s the webinar about?\nEvery year work-related musculoskeletal disorders (e.g.\, sprains and strains) make up about 30-35% of workplace injuries and about 35-40% of direct injury costs. Ergonomics has been proven to be a cost-effective way to prevent these injuries and business losses. And yet\, many companies are hesitant to embrace ergonomics because it is often not fully understood and at times politicized. But times are changing. More and more companies are engaging ergonomic programs to gain a competitive advantage by not only reducing injuries and related costs but also by boosting productivity. \nWe will discuss:\n\nThe changing ergonomics regulatory landscape\nWhat ergonomics is all about\nHow ergonomics can be value added to your company\nA 5-step process your company can use to reduce injury risk and increase operational efficiencies\n\nWho should attend?\n\n\n\nEHS Professionals\nOperations/Production Managers\nManufacturing/Process Engineers\nFacilities Managers\nHuman Resources Managers\nAnyone interested in learning more about ergonomics!\n\n\n\nFeel free to invite your colleagues! \nPresenter:\nEd Havey\, M.S\, CPE\, Ergonomics\, ehavey@complianceplace.com \nModerator:\nErin Rymsa\, Director of Training Services\, erymsa@complianceplace.com  \n  \n

SUMMARY:What You Need to Know about the OSHA National Emphasis Program for Fall Protection
DESCRIPTION:OSHA has developed a National Emphasis Program to prevent falls—the leading cause of fatal workplace injuries and the violation the agency cites most frequently during inspections. OSHA can now open inspections whenever they see someone working at height — not just when they observe violations or have other reasons to visit your site. This session will help participants prepare for a potential OSHA visit\, evaluate gaps in your fall protection program\, and provide meaningful recommendations to improve safety. \nClick here to register for this free webinar hosted by OH&S

SUMMARY:The Hunan Side of Safety: Overcome Objections and Address Motivation to Increase Participation
DESCRIPTION:Getting employees more involved in safety requires understanding their motivations. To improve your safety culture\, you need worker buy-in and support. Many safety professionals have wondered\, “How do I increase employee participation?” While there is no simple answer\, employees will participate more if they want to — too often\, they simply choose not to participate. The question should be\, “What would make employees choose to participate more?” If employees and supervisors understand the value and benefits\, they’ll participate more. \nWe Will Share Ideas on Overcoming These Challenges Such As: \n\nShowing employees why safety matters by demonstrating how it impacts them personally.\nDealing with reluctant (often experienced) workers who push back against the rules.\nDealing with those (often younger) workers who think they’re invincible or won’t get hurt.\nTips for increasing participation\, such as identifying workers to be safety advocates and leading from the middle.\nTips for supervisors who must support safety or could undermine your efforts.\n\nAnd much more! \nSponsored by ISHN and J.J Keller Safety Managment Suite \nClick here to Register.

SUMMARY:Bloodborne Pathogens Terminology: Exposing the regulation one term at a time
DESCRIPTION:Although the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard has been around over three decades\, it continues to confuse employers. OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 is cited 300 to 500 times each year\, making it a frequently violated regulation in Part 1910. Perhaps the confusion and noncompliance may be found in the very text of the standard — legal terminology that has been with the standard from the very beginning. \nThe Bloodborne Pathogens Standard defines 28 terms in its definitions section\, so the use of these words and phrases may make this particular regulation a challenge for employers in general industry. \nThis webcast explores: \n\nDefinitions of the key terms in the standard\,\nOSHA’s intent\, and\nAnswers to your questions.\n\nThe better you understand the terminology\, the easier\, faster\, and less costly your compliance efforts may be.
