SUMMARY:How Nudge Theory Can Reduce Hand Injuries: A Nudge Led Approach to Hand Safety
DESCRIPTION:OVERVIEW: \nEver found yourself wondering why workers have absent minded accidents? \nIt turns out our brains are engineered to optimize efficiency and respond swiftly. Most of our decisions aren’t the result of careful\, rational thought. Instead\, 90% or more of our decisions are driven by instinct. While this might be beneficial in saving time or effort\, it doesn’t always result in the wisest decisions regarding our safety. \nBecause of this\, the environment and context in which we’re making safety decisions plays a tremendous role in shaping our actions. This is good news! As Superior Glove has learned in their work with behavioral experts\, we can reduce and eliminate injuries with tiny tweaks in workers’ surroundings—”nudges” that can sway decisions and spark positive behavior. \nIn this webinar\, Superior Glove’s Sarah Gibson and Aaron Harroch explain what nudge theory is and how to apply it to create a safer workplace that can change worker behavior. \n\nWhat “nudging” is and how it can be used to reduce or eliminate hand injuries\nHow to assess work environments for place to institute nudges\nPractical examples that can be implemented\nWhat pitfalls to avoid when creating nudges\n\n  \n\n\n\nRegister Today!

SUMMARY:Facility Safety - Elevating Safety in High Injury-Rate Establishments: A Risk-Based Prioritized Approach
DESCRIPTION:AGENDA: \n2:00PM ET / 1:00PM CT / 11:00AM PT\nFacility Safety – Elevating Safety in Warehouse\, Distribution Center and High Injury-Rate Retail Establishments: A Risk-Based Prioritized Approach \n3:00PM ET / 2:00PM CT / 12:00 PT\nHottest Third-Party Solutions from: MARTOR \nOVERVIEW: \nIn today’s fast-paced supply chain\, where the demand for quick and accurate deliveries has never been higher\, the safety of your warehouse and distribution center operations is pivotal. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics\, the number of people working in warehousing applications has grown tremendously in the last several years\, and injury rates have grown out of proportion – with injury rates significantly higher than industry averages at more than five injuries per 100 full-time workers annually. This underscores the critical need for an emphasis on protecting workers from a multitude of common warehouse hazards. \nIn fact\, OSHA has kicked off a National Emphasis Program (NEP) on Warehousing and Distribution Center Operations. \nThis webinar will share some details about the OSHA NEP\, and help you take a risk driven\, priorities-based approach to keeping warehouse and distribution center workers safe. Learn about key warehouse safety risks including those that OSHA has its sights on\, like slips\, trips\, and falls; ergonomic and musculoskeletal injuries; powered industrial vehicle accidents; material handling\, and heat stress – but also others that might stem from warehouse growth and new technologies. The webinar will cover solutions for addressing hazards such as processes for hazard identification and risk analysis\, effective safety training\, materials handling equipment and education\, ergonomics solutions\, and warehouse traffic management. \nLearn how addressing these priorities creates a safer work environment\, reduces the risk of accidents and injuries\, and enhances overall productivity and morale among warehouse workers. SUMMARY:Eliminating Electrostatic Hazards to prevent Dust Explosion: Case Studies and Strategies
DESCRIPTION:The risk of combustible dust explosions in industrial settings\, initiated by electrostatic discharges\, presents a significant challenge to maintaining safety and reliability in processes involving flammable particulates. This webinar delves into the critical examination of electrostatic hazards\, with a particular focus on combustible dusts as potential fuels for explosions triggered by electrostatic discharges. Through a combination of case histories and use of laboratory test data\, our study emphasizes the importance of early detection and diagnosis of electrostatic phenomena that could lead to combustible dust explosions. \nThis webinar scrutinizes two incidents: one involving the ignition of a dust cloud by electrostatic discharge in a simple sieving operation\, and another in the production of flake where an electrostatic discharge led to a combustible dust explosion. By employing diagnostic tools and utilizing materials’ data\, we were able to trace the electrostatic pathways that contributed to these incidents. We identified the processes and equipment where charge generation and accumulation occurred\, leading to the conditions favorable for an electrostatic discharge that could ignite the combustible dust atmosphere. \nThis webinar highlights the key factors influencing charge generation and accumulation\, discharge mechanisms\, and the specific conditions under which a combustible dust atmosphere can become ignitable. The incidents studied showed early warning signs of electrostatic accumulation\, which\, if recognized and addressed\, could have averted the incidents. Our approach emphasizes the critical role of understanding electrostatic charge generation\, accumulation\, and discharge incendivity in preventing dust explosions through practical and targeted interventions. \nIn conclusion\, our findings provide insights for companies handling combustible dusts\, offering a path toward enhancing safety protocols\, reducing the risk of dust explosions\, and maintaining operational integrity through the control of electrostatic discharges. \n  \n\n\n\nRegister Today! \n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Free Webinar: Developing a Heat Illness Prevention Program in Construction
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, June 26 at 1:00 p.m. ET (1 hour) \nIt’s heating up outside\, which means hotter working conditions for those in construction. According to OSHA\, employers are responsible for providing workplaces free of known safety and health hazards\, including heat-related hazards. The best way to prevent exposure to these hazards\, or at the very least\, to lessen the impact of heat and hot weather\, is to develop and enforce a Heat Illness Prevention (HIP) Program. CPWR has developed two checklists to assist with the development of an overall HIP program and its daily enforcement on each unique job site. On this webinar\, we will review these checklists and share some key background information on HIP planning before spending most of the hour in a focused Q&A discussion with our panel of experts\, including both researchers and representatives from labor and management. Please submit your questions in advance during registration\, as we will use those to inform the discussion! \n  \nModerator: Chris Trahan Cain\, CIH\, Executive Director\, CPWR \nPanelists: \n·    Kathleen Dobson\, Safety Director\, Alberici Constructors\, Inc. \n·    Ryan R. SUMMARY:Emergency Planning From a Different Perspective
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, August 1st at 11 AM (PST) / 2 PM (EST) \nWhen disaster strikes\, confusion and indecision often take place when we React instead of Proacting. What is your company’s capability during the first 100 minutes of an incident when local emergency response efforts may be delayed? How do location and resources complicate your emergency plans? I have 4 locations I can use the same emergency plan? Is there a tool I can use to preplan my responses? \nEmergencies can create a variety of hazards for workers in the impacted area. Preparing before an emergency incident plays a vital role in ensuring that employers and workers have the necessary equipment\, know where to go\, and know how to keep themselves safe when an emergency occurs. \nIn times of crisis\, a well-defined plan is the difference between a rapid recovery\, a major loss\, and the safety of your employees. \n  \nRegister Now
