SUMMARY:The Build Conference 2023
DESCRIPTION:FREE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE\nSchuylkill Yards / Brandywine and the Development of Life Sciences in University City.\nJoin us for the most exciting construction conference in recent memory. \nPhiladelphia in the wake of a global health crisis\, has transformed itself into a national hub for the development of life sciences over the course of the last few years. This can be attributed to the extraordinary strides in research courtesy of the city’s plethora of academic and medical institutions. Thanks to this research\, the private sector has responded by developing several million square feet of space for labs\, offices\, and even manufacturing. The epicenter of this development takes place in University City where projects are proceeding on properties largely held by Drexel University\, the University of Pennsylvania. Working with private developers\, these institutions in conjunction with Schuylkill Yards\, UCity Square\, and Pennovision\, have created a new eco-system of innovation around their campuses. Craig Carnaroli and Anne Papageorge of UPenn\, President Fry and Alan Greenberger of Drexel\, will describe how this came to be and what to expect as more development is realized. \nComplimentary Breakfast will be served. \nRSVP: LRG1075@comcast.net \nHosted by The Philadelphia Building Trades Council\, Palm Built Rite & The Signatory Contractors Association

SUMMARY:Improving job hazard analysis and pre-task planning in electrical construction: A workers’ perspective
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is hosted by CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training \nPre-task planning and job hazard analysis (JHA) can serve an important role in proactively recognizing and addressing hazards to prevent work-related incidents. However\, they are primarily based on compliance and typically lack the input of the workers performing the tasks. To improve the effectiveness of pre-task planning and JHA\, it is critical they include more detailed task-specific information — particularly from the workers’ perspective — and provide evidence-based solutions that will create safer working conditions. Please join us to learn how a current CPWR research project strives to fill the gap between current and best practices for planning\, particularly in the high-risk trade of electrical construction (covered in part in the new paper\, High-Risk Electrical Tasks & Contributing Work Factors). \nZoom webinar \nClick here to register and submit questions for our panelists.
