SUMMARY:MACSC July Meeting: Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plan
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Robert C. Albrecht\, Executive EHS Manager for Signature Safety\, LLC for the Midatlantic region. \nInfection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) plan\, is a set of guidelines and practices that help reduce the risk of infection transmission during construction or renovation projects in healthcare settings . The goal of an ICRA plan is to protect the health of patients\, visitors\, and staff by identifying and controlling the effects of construction or renovation activities on air and water quality. A newer approach is called a Pre-Construction Infection Control Assessment (PICRA) and ICRA 2.0\, both are very similar with some nuances that will briefly be discussed in the body of content. \nThe presentation will discuss the elements of a traditional ICRA plan that involves the regulatory requirements and the following steps: \n\nIdentify risk groups: Determine which patient groups are at risk based on construction activities\nDetermine precautions: Decide on the appropriate class of precautions to take\nEstablish incident reporting: Create a process for reporting any incidents\nAnalyze potential contaminants: Consider every possible source of dust or construction contaminant that could spread through the facility\nImplement controls: Design and put in place measures to reduce health risks\n\nPresenters Bio: Robert Albrecht is a seasoned Occupational Safety and Health professional with over 34 years of experience that includes industrial hygiene\, large civil construction projects\, CSHO for a State OSHA program and over 10 years working in healthcare systems. He is the Executive EHS Manager for Signature Safety\, LLC for the Midatlantic region. During his employment for General Contractors Robert worked on $45 to $900 million projects as Area Safety Manager and Site Safety and Health Officer. \nAfter moving into the healthcare sector while at Johns Hopkins\, his skills were applied for managing all ICRA design\, review and implementing in ambulatory and non-ambulatory healthcare settings. Robert then became the director of Life Safety for the largest hospital in Washington DC and was quickly placed as the acting Assistant Vice President of Support Services. This position included managing all occupational safety and health\, ICRA\, life safety\, hazardous wastes\, environmental services and training for over 4\,000 staff. \nRobert presently holds a Certified Healthcare Environmental Management certification\, an AAS in Occupational Safety and Health Technology from a NIOSH accredited program\, a BS in Legal Studies with a minor in Environmental Occupational Safety and Health from the University of Maryland University College. \n\n\n \n \n MACSC Monthly Meeting RSVP\n \n \n URLThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged. Will you be attending?(Required)\n \n \n Yes\n \n \n \n No\n Company(Required)Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Cell Phone NumberEmail(Required)\n \n I will be brining a guest and his or her name(s) is: Guest Fee is $45 per personEmail\n \n Select number of guest. DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, July 29th at 1:00 p.m. Eastern (1 hour) \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNABTU-CPWR Summer Heat Webinar \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nConstruction workers\, who often work outdoors in direct sunlight or in hot\, enclosed spaces\, are at risk for heat-related illnesses and\, in severe cases\, death. Rising global temperatures in recent decades increase that risk. However\, these illnesses and deaths are preventable. North America’s Building Trades Unions (NABTU) is working with its affiliates\, contractors\, and other industry stakeholders across the country to prevent heat-related illness and injury through better pre-job and pre-task planning and training. As part of this effort\, NABTU and CPWR invited two construction labor representatives and two contractor representatives to share their perspectives on how to beat the heat while still getting the job done.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nModerator: \n\nChris Trahan Cain\, CIH\, Executive Director\, CPWR – The Center for Construction Research and Training\n\nPanelists: \n\nShannon Jones\, Tri-Fund Coordinator\, Laborers’ Health and Safety Fund of North America (LHSFNA)\nKen Seal\, Safety and Health Director\, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT)\nShane Eckerman\, Executive Director of Safety\, CSI Electrical Contractors\, Inc.\nAaron Knight\, OHST\, EMT-B\, President\, NMC Companies\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nClick here to register and submit questions in advance \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLive attendance is capped at 1\,000 people; however\, the webinars will be recorded and posted to CPWR’s YouTube channel for anyone who cannot attend.
