Electrical Utilities Safety: Understanding the Cause of Electrical Fatalities

Thursday, September 4 at 11am PT / 2pm ET

Contact with or exposure to electricity continues to be one of the leading causes of workplace fatalities. Between 2011 and 2023, there was an average of 150 workplace electrical fatalities every year. Over 48% of these electrical fatalities are caused by overhead power line contact.

Electrical power installers and repairers, an occupation that makes up many of the line workers in the utility industry, had the highest rate of electrical fatalities during this period. This webinar will discuss the commonalities of workplace electrical incidents along with what steps workers and employers may take to prevent these fatalities with an emphasis placed on utility workers.
