Online HAZWOPER 8-Hour Refresher Course

HAZWOPER is an OSHA workplace health and safety Standard (29 CFR 1910.120) intended to protect employees who work with hazardous substances in specific scenarios. These scenarios include response to emergency releases of hazardous substances and cleanup and remediation at contaminated sites.

This interactive, instructor led online course provides 8 hours of initial or refresher HAZWOPER training required for “operations-level” first responders who take defensive actions to contain a hazardous substance release. Typical defensive response actions include shutting down equipment or ventilation, covering drains, and placing absorbent to prevent a release from spreading.

HAZWOPER training is intended for employees performing the following general categories of work operations:

 

·    Hazardous waste site cleanup operations;

·    Operations involving hazardous waste that are conducted at treatment, storage, and disposal (TSD) facilities;

·    Emergency response operations involving hazardous substance releases

Erin Rymsa, Director, Training Services

 

Erin is a highly skilled safety and health professional with more than 20 years of diverse experience. She has a strong understanding and appreciation for business needs, applicable compliance requirements and development of successful training programs. She is a dynamic presenter and designs exciting training curriculums for online learners. Her training is developed to engage employees and harness their attention.

 

Erin has extensive experience in manufacturing as an Environmental, Health and Safety Manager for 12 years at Teleflex, Inc. she managed the compliance programs and training for several sites in the U.S. and Canada. She had responsibility for new and legacy facilities with a host of unique attributes related to the safety and health of employees. During her tenure as EH&S Manager at Pratt & Whitney Engines, she led the team in training development, accident investigation, and job hazard analysis. Additionally, Erin has worked as a safety and health consultant to various municipal entities, including the City of Philadelphia, Philadelphia International Airport and Philadelphia Parking Authority.
